Junior Combs
Born – September 30
Baritone/Tenor/Lead
Junior is the manager and founder of Southern Joy. He was born in
Macclenny, Florida resides with his wife Gayle and Three Children in
Baldwin, Florida. He is a member of Raiford Road Church and is a
Claims supervisor for a national insurance company.
Junior started singing Southern Gospel music at age 12 with two of his
sisters (Barbara Croft and Lynda Combs and a niece (Sherrie Davis)
They made up The Cedar Creek Quartet. Over the last 30 years he has
sang with such groups as Rushing Wind Quartet, The Canaanland Boys,
The Coastelmen and New Gathering Quartet. After realizing the gifts of
singing his children possessed Junior decided to answer the call to
form Southern Joy in Summer of 2006. His love for his family made it
an easy decision to form this family ministry. Junior is loved by many
Southern Gospel fans. He is best known for having one of the Greatest
undiscovered Tenor voice around. He has had offers with Full-Time
groups but, felt that his calling
was to be with his family. He is noted as having a highly anointed
full tenor voice.
Junior has won many awards since childhood for his vocal abilities as
a well as his Piano playing. Junior’s prayer is that his fans and
family will continue to support this ministry as he continues down
this new road that God has placed him on. He is only interested in
being a light to those in the dark and to spread the Lord’s work
wherever he may go.
Junior’s hobbies include – Writing songs, Southern Style cooking,
Playing the Piano, Softball and spending quality time with his entire
family.
One of Junior’s most notable memories of singing was when he was
chosen
as his Senior classes Most Outstanding Chorus member. This was an
award that was decided upon by the Choral Director. It was based on
leadership, honor, vocal/musical talent and being the most valuable
member to the choral department.
